Hampton court palace flower show, awarded to the best Small Gardens

There was a lot of talent displayed in some of the small gardens and the sort of craftsmanship that you might have thought was once forgotten. There is a renaissance in some of the basic skills of carpentry and smithy work along with a lot of imagination. Having said that not all the gardens were of a consistently high standard in all respects.

Certain features, certain elements in design often badly let down a garden, often to the extend that I was often surprised that the RHS made any award at all, since to award a bad garden even the lowest award is surely to demean the value of all the awards and perhaps the gardens that were justifiably awarded that same level of award. Ill let the pictures speak for themselves but unfortunately I havent been as committed as I ought in getting every single garden.

Designer: Matt Cox . They never managed to finish this garden whilst I was there and seemed to only have just started when I arrived on the last day of build up. They obviously did finish because they earned an award. Maybe it was for the fastest garden build in the history of the show.
